Arkley Golf Club, Hertfordshire in England

Around the turn of the last century, the small civic parish of Arkley
was formed. At 440 feet above sea level, it enjoyed excellent views to
the south, over London, and it was to here that the more prosperous local
tradesmen and gentry were attracted to build their homes and develop their
own social clubs. In 1909 the decision was made to form Arkley Golf Club
and today it is the home of one of the most attractive small courses in
the country.
Designed by James Braid this beautiful nine hole (18 tee) parkland is
renowned for its narrow tree lined fairways and is a true test of golf
for all standards of player. In the second half of the course the alternative
tees require not only a different approach to the greens, but give several
holes a different par figure.
In keeping with the traditional atmosphere and friendliness of the club,
all golfers who pay green fees are regarded as members for the day and
are welcome to enjoy the range of real ale and fine catering after a game.
