Ballyliffin Golf Club, Co. Donegal (The Old Links) in Ireland

Situated close to Malin Head on Donegal's Inishowen Peninsula, Ireland's
most northerly links comprises 365 acres of spectacular duneland and is
practically surrounded by rolling hills and mountains with the only other
boundary being the Atlantic Ocean.
Ballyliffin Golf Club has two 18 hole courses: the classic Old Links,
which was described by Nick Faldo as the most natural golf course he had
ever seen, and the magnificent new Glashedy Links, which opened to great
acclaim in August 1995.
The Old Links
The Old Links is a classically old fashioned links. Oozing charm, character
and curiosity it is the extraordinary terrain that makes a game here such
a unique experience. The highly unusual fairways that are Ballyliffin's
trademark ripple and tumble in every conceivable direction. The most legendary
hole on The Old Links is undoubtedly the par three 5th, or 'The Tank',
as it is known. The green enjoys a stage-like setting perched between
two large sandhills and only the perfectly judged tee shot will find the
sanctuary of the putting surface. Apart from the exhilarating golfing
challenge this fine old course offers the visitors the ultimate visual
feast - landscape, seascape and golfscape. The late Fred Daly once commented
"A real jewel" - he was surely right!
