Bishop Auckland Golf Club , Durham in England

Golf was first played at Bishop Auckland around 1890 in the outer park
of the Palace of the Bishop of Durham by theological students training
at the Castle. The club was established by local business and professional
men in 1894 when James Kay was employed to design a course in parkland
overlooking the Bishops of Durham's Palace and Park. From these early
beginnings this course has matured into one of the finest golf courses
in the North of England with fairways second to none.
This beautiful tree lined course is complemented by superb panoramic
views across the Wear Valley. With three par 5 holes in the first four
and the challenging par three 7th and 8th holes, this course provides
a good test of golf for all abilities.
The recently refurbished clubhouse provides full catering and refreshment
facilities and a warm welcome is always guaranteed in the friendly clubhouse.
