Blackwell Grange Golf Club, Durham in England

After starting life in 1931 as a 9 hole par 3 course Blackwell Grange
Golf Club eventually became an 18 hole course in 1972, with the addition
of the land around what is now Blackwell Grange Hotel. Although having
only been in existence in its current form for 30 years it has built up
a reputation for being one of the prettiest courses in the North East
of England.
Despite being of modest length, clever use of the land and the positioning
of the thousands of extra trees planted over the last 15 years gives golfers
the feeling that they have the course to themselves. Three ponds add to
the variety of holes offered by this easy walking course which also has
one of the hardest opening holes in the area. It is little wonder that
all who play the course and then sample the hospitality in the unique
Clubhouse vow to return .....and generally do.
