Bristol & Clifton Golf Club, Gloucestershire in England
Bristol & Clifton is a beautiful, undulating, country golf course ofdistinctive character. Established in 1891, it is situated only a short
drive from Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge.
While a challenge to low handicap golfers, it offers all players unlimited
opportunities to complete a round with a real sense of achievement. Natural
obstacles include a former quarry and spinneys of trees. Apart from the
par threes, there are only two holes that might reasonably be called straight
- all the rest, to a greater or lesser degree, are doglegs. Although trouble
is reasonably well distributed on both sides of most holes, those that
slice generally come off worse than those who hook. The course sits on
superb naturally draining land, and offers visitors extensive views of
woodland and the countryside towards the Bristol Channel.
