Brookdale Golf Club, Manchester in England

Brookdale Golf Club was first founded as Clayton Golf Club in 1896. Renamed
Brookdale in 1906, the course moved to its present location in 1962 and
is one of the most picturesque parklands in the north of England.
The river Medlock features on six of the holes as it meanders through
the course making it both challenging and interesting. One of the feature
holes is the 9th. This tough par 4 involves possibly the most demanding
tee shot on the course. It is played across the river and has to avoid
trees on the right. A birch tree on the left hand side will obscure any
drive that is not central. The second shot is then played blind to a flat
green, but from a fairway often sheltered from any breeze, it can prove
very difficult to judge the distance accurately.
