Chart Hills Golf Club, Kent in England
Chart Hills, which forms the northern boundary of the Weald, derivesits name from a series of Royal Charters, the first being issued in 762
A.D. On what Faldo called "the perfect piece of land", 200 acres of gently
undulating hills with 200 year old oak trees, now lies Chart Hills Golf
Club. Four years after the initial concept, Chart Hills was opened in
1993, the first ball being struck by Nick Faldo himself.
With 138 bunkers, 5 different teeing positions and greens so fast they
have been likened to putting on glass, Faldo has created 18 holes each
with its own personal characteristics and challenges. He has truly left
his mark on the course with some memorable 'signature' features, such
as the 200-yard long snake like Anaconda Bunker on the 5th and the island
green at the short 17th.
It is easy to appreciate why Chart Hills Golf Club has received so many
golfing accolades including: "The Best New Course in England" (Golf World),
"The Best Inland Course in the UK" (Following the Fairways) and is a PGA
European Tour Qualifying School venue.
