Clontarf Golf Club, Co. Dublin in Ireland

Founded in 1912, this charming north Dublin club is situated within the
boundary of the Capital City. The renowned architect, Harry Colt was influential
in its design and Clontarf now boasts superbly manicured rolling fairways
and excellent greens.
The famed Harry Bradshaw once commented: "I have always rated it
a good test of golf. Good driving is imperative... The 8th, 10th and 16th
are great golf holes." Bradshaw also admired the famous 12th hole
(par 4, index 1), known locally as 'The Quarry Hole' and without doubt
the signature hole at Clontarf - after driving onto a raised plateau,
the approach shot is played over a valley (once an old quarry), with two
intervening ponds to a plateau green. In the December 1994 issue of 'TodayÕs
Golfer' it was listed by Michael McDonnell, the noted Daily Mail Golf
Correspondent among his 'Dirty Dozen' nightmare golf holes of 1994!

Excellent greens, nice fairways, and only two miles from the middle of
Dublin.
If you're reliable off the tee, you'll be rewarded here. The 8th, the
10th, the 16th and the 18th are great golf holes. Most memorable of course
is the 12th, the famous "Quarry" hole, a par 4 which is challenging to
say the least.
If you get out of this, the index 1, alive, you'll have had a good day
in Clontarf.
A great parkland course!
