Delgany Golf Club, Co. Wicklow in Ireland

Saturday, 18th September, 1909 was a major milestone in the history
of Delgany Golf Club. On that date, the reigning Irish Champion, Michael
'Dyke' Moran, played a 36-hole challenge match over the course against
Harry Vardon. After yet another victory, the celebrated Vardon was engaged
to advise as to what improvements could be made to the infant course.
He staked locations for bunkers and made many other suggestions that were
accepted by the Committee. It seems therefore that the unique character
of Delgany owes much to one of the most legendary names in the history
of golf.
With splendid views of the 'Garden of Ireland', fairways lined with stately
mature trees, some memorable holes and a proud tradition of warm hospitality
Delgany is a delightful venue for the discerning golfer.
The peace and tranquillity of the sylvan setting is its own reward -
the golf is a bonus.

Superb greens, good all round test for any golfer.

Unreadable greens. Slow on one hole and like a rocket on others. Although
an excellent clubhouse with brilliant surroundings. Hilly in most areas
but also wide fairways with little or no rough.
