Duff House Royal Golf Club, Grampian in Scotland
Visiting golfers can enjoy a most rewarding and enjoyable challengeon this beautiful par 68 parkland test. A feature of the course are the
many large, two-tiered greens, encircled by cavernous bunkers, which test
the accuracy of approach play and the art of putting. The 17th hole is
the equal of any par 4 in the country; the River Deveron flows by on the
left hand side for the full 460 yards, while trees and bunkers guard the
right.
Originally constructed by James Braid in 1910, the first design was ploughed
up during the Great War. The reconstruction took place under the expert
eye of Dr. Alistair Mackenzie, whose crowning glory was later the US Masters
course in Augusta, Georgia.
The 13th green stands directly in front of Duff House, a splendid example
of Adams architecture, which adds something very special to the tee shot
at this par three. The stretch for home tests even the most wily campaigner,
with a series of long and demanding holes before the 19th is reached.
