Dunmore Demesne, Co. Galway in Ireland

Reader's Review
Dunmore Demesne is my home club in Dunmore, Co. Galway. This course is
a 9 hole course which has been open for 2.5 years. In those 2.5 years
the course has matured quite well, even with the hammering the course
has taken with the weather in it's first year.
The opening hole is a par 4 and is Index 1 for the course. It's definitely
the most difficult hole on the course and is a real challenge to score a par.
Teeing off you need to fade the ball round the dog leg right and carry enough
to get off the downslope to have any chance of hitting the 2 tiered uphill green.
The second hole is a standard par 4 again, with an uphill second shot to a small
green. The third hole is another par 4 with the green hidden behind a huge hill
with the flag barely visible. The green is pretty large and par is not that
difficult. The 4th hole is an extremely difficult Par 3 with Out of Bounds to
the right and also to the left near the green. Accuracy is all important on
this hole and walking away with a par is a relief! Hole 5 is a real driving
hole, hitting down from a hugely elevated Tee to the fairway below. The green
can be hit in 2 by the big hitters but is not a straightforward second shot
due to the line to the green being obstructed by a copse of trees 100 yards
from the green. Hole 6 is another short Par 3 with a devilishly sloped green
but is a relatively easy target. Hole 7 is a tight drive along the narrow fairway
with a second shot to the second largest green on the course, easiest hole to
score birdies on. Hole 8 is a LONG par 4, generous fairway, but will cause trouble
for anybody wayward as trees line left and right, which sould obstruct your
second to the deceptive green. Hole 9 is a slight dog leg left with a tricky
uphill second to a virtually invisible green, largest green on the course however
so prepare for some 50 foot putts!
All in all this course is a challenge to all levels of golfer, but, will be
particularly enjoyable for high to middle handicappers. Green fees are £10 for
18 holes. Enjoy! The scorecard for this course is detailed in the scorecard
analysis section of this web site.
