Elgin Golf Club, Grampian in Scotland
The Elgin Golf Club course at Hardhillock has often been described, with some justification, as one of the finest inland courses in the northern
half of Scotland. Not only does the course offer a real test of skill
for even the very best golfer, it also provides the additional bonus of
superb panoramic views over the city of Elgin to the north and the rolling
foothills of Speyside's 'Whisky Trail' country to the south. One of the
best holes on the course is the demanding tenth, a 428 yard par 4, which
requires accuracy from tee to green. Out of bounds on the left and a wooded
quarry to the right provide danger for the wayward drive and the second
shot must be played to an elevated green. However, on attaining the putting
surface the golfer is rewarded with a splendid vista, which is well worth
the climb. The course is maintained to an extremely high standard and
is complemented by a comfortable and spacious clubhouse.
