Esporta Dougalston Golf Course, Strathclyde in Scotland
Esporta Dougalston is a course of championship standard, set within300 acres of beautiful woodland. This new development has a unique country
club atmosphere, with a whole range of sporting and leisure facilities
to complement the golf club. The original design was laid out in 1975
by Commander Harris, who made excellent use of the natural woodland terrain
to define the fairways. The incorporation of the estate's water features
mean several holes are particularly aesthetically pleasing. The course
is currently being upgraded with some quarter of a million pounds spent
on drainage improvements, to offset the worst excesses of the weather.
May 2001 will see the introduction of three new holes, while the clearing
of shrubbery to widen certain holes will improve the golfer's ability
to score. With the backing of an organisation like Esporta, there is a
bright future for this excellent golfing challenge.
