The gentle rolling hills of Co. Carlow now offer another golfing jewel to thecrown of magnificent courses which dot the island of Ireland. Located just outside
Carlow town, Killerig Castle Golf Club has already established a reputation
of having some of the finest greens in Ireland.
Designed by Des Smyth and Declan Brannigan this imaginatively laid out course
has water in play on six of its 18 USGA specification greens. The first phase
of a log cabin style clubhouse includes a fully equiped Pro Shop and full shower
and changing facilities.

We had a group of 7 playing over the weekend in Mount
Wolseley and Killerig Castle.
Killerig Castle could not have been better organised - on a Sunday morning
they had a starter ( actually, a very friendly course advisor) and were in walkie
talkie communication between the clubhouse and 1st tee box. Everything ran to
clockwork and we had absolutely no hassle. We could enjoy the course.
What a course it will be in 4-5 years time. Even today it is a pleasure to
play. Some holes of not are the par 5 5th and the par 4 6th on the front 9 -
the par 5 moonscape bunkered 13th and dogleg par 4 14th and the final 3 finishing
holes. Great food and excellent carrot cake and coffee in the clubhouse. Also
a very well stocked. A special work of thanks goes to the manageress on duty
who donated some prizes to our competition totally without asking - a really
nice gesture. The course is great value and at £7000 to join for share membership
should be on anyone's list if you are thinking of joining a course in the region.
