Shotts Golf Club, Strathclyde in Scotland

Shotts Golf Club was founded in 1895 and has subsequently relocated
twice since its inception. The present layout was drawn up in 1936 by
the noted golf course architect James Braid and finally completed in 1949.
Situated within a half hour drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow and
sited approximately 800 feet above sea level, the course will test all
comers. On a fine day, both Tinto Hill, the highest point in Lanarkshire,
and Loudoun Hill in Ayrshire are clearly visible. The club is a hotbed
of talent with some six Scottish Boys and Youth International Caps in
recent years. Visitors should beware 'The Devil's Elbow', Shotts's notorious
409 yard fourth hole - many a nascent score has foundered here.
The recently refurbished "19th Hole" will provide warm and friendly respite
and serves quality food, fine ales and spirits.
