Turnberry - Golf Academy, Strathclyde in Scotland

This venerable old club was founded in 1851 and will be celebrating
its 150th anniversary next year. Originally the members shared facilities
with the neighbouring Prestwick Club on the course where the Open Championship
was first held in 1860. In 1892, however, the club moved to its present
location and commissioned the architects James Allan and Charles Hunter
to design the course. The course extends to approximately 6,000 yards
with a standard scratch score of 69. A complete irrigation system is in
place and this challenging links course enjoys splendid views to the neighbouring
island of Arran. The course has the distinction of being a final qualifying
venue for the Open Championship and is always to be found in perfect condition.
Prestwick International Airport is in close proximity with direct services
to Stansted and Dublin, while Royal Troon and Turnberry are situated within
close travelling distance.
